After studying at the 'Schauspielstudio' Hamburg, which had been named intentionally after the 'Actor's Studio', Ute Kaiser got an engagement at 'Schloßtheater Moers'. In the late nineties this rather small and in an old castle beautifully situated theatre was quite unique, for it was the rare example of a subsidized ensemble that actually worked like only a free theatre group would normally do in Germany: a familiar team creating ideas together, chosing the plays and evolving the stagings, having equal rights. Even more astonishing for such a small theatre was that they were noticed and highly appreciated for their stagings all over Germany. Her first role in Moers was as Ophelia in 'Hamlet'. She stayed there for four years and appeared to be suitable for many main characters of the classical and modern drama. During this period she already collaborated with many musicians who often were part of the stage concept as improvising sound artists. Since the ensemble's frankly decided disbandment in 1999 Ute Kaiser has been working as a free-lance actress all over the country. As one of her main interests she more and more concentrates on lyrical performance combined with musical expression such as ambient, rhythm and experimental sounds, not just using one artistic form as a background for the other.Often the actress choses lyrics by female writers who missed prominence because of suppression or persecution or because they've been simply forgotten by the literary world. A musical lecture by Ute Kaiser therefore always is also an evening for an author. Via music and poetry and what they transport into the audience the actress aims to create an atmosphere that can help connecting people with each other.
