SonicExchange

SonicExchange reaches audiences where underserved communities meet with already active cultural communities. The series, now active for thirteen years, focuses each time music plus interdisciplinary or intercultural components such as Foto and Sound. At Neue Brüderkirche the “Improvisation out of Silence” evenings reached a new audience, often new to improvisation. The focus on music and culture from Afghanistan did not lose its relevance and will continue to grow in 2025.

Improvisationen inspired by images of documenta fifteen, taken by Tanja Kurzenknabe render intense impressions of art shown documenta fifteen in Kassel during the summer of 2022.

3. Improvisation from  Silence

   This project began inspired by the sound installation “Breathing Meditation” shown during documenta fifteen at Neue Brüderkirche, Kassel. A monthly open invitation to a very divers community offers group improvisations. The events are guided by Ursel Schlicht and pastor Stefan Nadolny. 

The summer of 2002, is documented on DVD, released at Mulatta Records, New York 2013.

Niemand klingt so wie ein anderer. 

Man muss lernen, dieses Ureigene besonders zu pflegen.

Dann kann man auf dieser Basis mit anderen spielen. 

Man muss sich dann nicht auf eine gemeinsame Stilistik einigen.
